The co-owners of the barque Moise Montefiore were Josip Petar Negovetić from Mošćenice, living in Rijeka, with twelve shares, Sidonija Kohen with eight shares and the Bakar seafarer and shipowner Frane Golubović with four shares. The barque was built in 1855 in Whitby, England, as Edward Tornhill, and was purchased on 19 September 1866. It was 39.36 m long, 7.20 m wide, 5.22 m high. Calibrated immediately after the sale, she had 377 rt, and in 1886, measured again, she had 379 rt. She had about twelve crew members. In 1870, Negovetić sold his share to Nathan's son, the merchant Julius Kohen from Rijeka, and Golubović partially ceded his share to the company J. Kohen and Captain Anton Matković from Podvežica, later the long-time captain of the ship. When the Kohen company went bankrupt in 1873, the ship was taken over by the bank, but the following year it sold all the company's shares to Captain Matković. In 1880, co-owner Sidonija Kohen sold her share in the ship to Captain A. Matković and Captain Anton Sarjanović from Starigrad on Hvar, married and residing in Kostrena, Sv. Barbara. Such a co-ownership relationship lasted until 1887, when the ship was sold to the new owner, Captain Teodomir Zubranić from Veli Lošinj, who lived in Trieste. In December 1886, under the command of Captain Zubranić, she sailed in ballast towards Trieste, where she was sold. The last entry in the register of ocean-going ships of the Rijeka Maritime Administration is a short notice that Moise Montefiore was sold to an Austrian citizen and unshipped. It is interesting to mention that the barque Moise Montefiore did not undertake any transatlantic voyage.
