The Market building in Opatija was built in the historicist style as an elongated two-storey building surrounded by a terrace on the first floor. With its dimensions, it looks monumentally erected along the main city road on a smaller square for external sale. As the building is buried into a slight slope, there is a steep street on one side and a staircase access to the upper floor on the other. In the renovated interior, sales are carried out on the ground floor and on the gallery-raised upper floor under basilica lighting. The tradition of selling one's own products at the town market has continued to this day at Opatija's market and you can still buy fruit and vegetables grown in the gardens of the Opatija hinterland, as well as honey, cheese and other local products, including fresh Adriatic fish at the fish market. The fish market is located in an extended part of the building at the back with entrances to the left and right of the building and from the lower floor of the building. The extended part is made in the same style as the main building. The fish market itself extends in height through two floors with windows at the level of the upper floor. The fish market is equipped with stone tables for selling fish and smaller storage and cooling spaces in the background, with a small office space at the bottom of the fish market. A terrazzo design was made on the floor and the walls were covered with tiles.
