Tomb of maritime and shipowner family Manasteriotti
Opis
There are two tombs of the Manasteriotti family in the Kozala city cemetery. One more modest, bed tomb with a built-in slab in field L which holds: physician Dr. Eliodoro (1802 – 1891), wife Maria neé Petricich, Gi(ov)anni, Fulvio and Cristina Matcovich neé Manasteriotti. The second, more lavish tomb of the Manasteriotti family is located in field C-1. This building is made in the Art Nouveau style. The author of the chapel with a stone dome is Ivan Rendić (1894). The mausoleum has a rectangular ground plan, and consists of a chapel, laid on a sloping stone base, which is approached by a two-pronged staircase, and a crypt, which is descended by a staircase. The mausoleum building is extremely richly decorated with Egyptian-style architectural elements (pillars, capitals, bases, architraves, wreaths, entrances and domes). The interior of the chapel, painted entirely with the fresco technique of Egyptian and Christian motifs in vivid colours, has the same characteristics. The altar and bust of Jesus Christ located in the mausoleum are made in relief in white marble. The crypt contains Francesco ship-owner, landowner (*1837 – 1893), who ordered the mausoleum, Edmondo (1868 – 1920), high school student Ugo (1874 – 1893) and the physician dr. Amedeo.
