Malinska has fostered a sailing tradition for more than 80 years. In the mid- 20th century, it was even home to the state sailing champion. Today, the Malinska Sailing Club organises numerous regattas and a sailing school. In cooperation with the Municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica and the Tourist Board, the Homo na jidra traditional boat regatta was organised for the first time in 2019 and takes place annually. Visitors interested in maritime heritage and traditions can admire the oldest wooden boat in Malinska, the Božjan, and other traditional boats used in the northern Adriatic: the guc, leut and bracera. The Homo na jidra regatta pays tribute to and helps promote the rich maritime, fishing and shipbuilding heritage of the Malinska area.
