Punat is located on the southeast shore of Puntarska Draga, a well-protected bay with the oldest marina on the Croatian Adriatic coast. In the last hundred years, the Punat waterfront has changed significantly: the former piers of Veli Mul (in the Klančić area) and Mali Mul (at Punćaleh) practically disappeared after World War Two when several hundred metres of the waterfront were levelled. Instead of the traditional boats (gajeta, pasara) and steamships that once docked here, the 91-metre-long pier now provides berthing for modern sailboats and mega yachts.
