The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in the center of the old part of the village Kraj. The church was first mentioned in the will of Juraj Mohović written on 6 March 1521. The church was once a private oratory or chapel of the Mohović family. The oldest part of the church is the chapel of St. Joseph. The church of the Mother of God was built during the Middle Ages (15th century) by extending the older chapel. In this church, in addition to other religious paintings, there is a collection of 11 votive paintings of maritime themes with which sailors thanked the Mother of God and other saints for salvation in difficult times at sea. The paintings show various ships: brig and barque of unknown names, nave "Croatia", corvette "Donau", steamer "La Bourgogne", steamer "Olga", two pictures of the steamer "Ariosto", steamer "Carla", clipper with auxiliary steam engine the Royal Charter and the Burma steamer. The ships in these pictures are mostly shown in a major storm or during sinking.
