The marotta resembles a boat because it is made with the same techniques and because it must stay in running water, in canals or lagoons, but it is perforated to be able to remain in mid-water and contain live fish (for example eels, crustaceans, etc.), which was then collected as needed. It therefore represents an initial form of aquaculture, practiced since ancient times. This specimen is small in size, but there were also much larger ones, up to 10 meters and more.
