Lošinjska plovidba was founded in 1958. In the first period of its development, it still owned wooden coastal sailing ships, and in the 1960s it began ordering the first new-buildings. It was established as a joint shipping company of Lošinjska plovidba and Obalna plovidba. At the beginning of its economic activity, Lošinjska plovidba had a total of 38 ships built in the first half of the 20th century. During the 1960s, the business expanded with the purchase of 17 new engine-driven ships, and the year 1969 was especially significant when the passenger ferry Marina was purchased, which was the flagship of passenger navigation within the Lošinj shipping company until the beginning of the 21st century. During the 1970s and the 1980s, its operation increased even more so that Lošinjska plovidba had a total of 37 ships in the early 1990s. The lines maintained by Lošinjska were mainly related to the Mediterranean Sea, equally to the western and eastern Mediterranean. After the difficult war years, in the 1990s, Lošinjska plovidba had 17 ships at the end of 1998 and until 2008 it operated relatively successfully despite the reduction of its fleet. Finally, in 2015, it ceased to exist as a shipping company.
