The barque Ban Mažuranić, was built in 1875 in the shipyard Mate Matrljan in Bakar. It belonged to the Croatian Shipping Company Bakar. The barque maintained lines to South and North America, the Antilles, and western European ports. The sailing ship itself is immortalized in a painting housed in the City Museum in Bakar. She is known as the last large overseas sailing ship form Bakar sailing under local owners and captains until 1903, when she was sold to a Turkish shipowner in Rijeka.
