Wooden box with partial opening on one side, inside which the caulker stored the material (rolls and frays of tow) and the tools to caulk the hulls (the "calcastoppa", a sort of iron chisel to press the tow in the slots between the planking boards, and the wooden mallet). This box, placed vertically, also served as a stool for the caulker when working on the lower parts of the hull. The specimen of the Arzanà collection, complete with tow and tools, dates back to the first half of the 20th century.
