The fish farm of the company Orada Adriatic doo is located in the bay Veli Bok on the northwest side of the island of Cres at the geographical position φ = 45 ° 01,7'N, λ = 014 ° 21,1'E. The bay is approximately 10 km away from the town of Cres, and can only be accessed by sea because the coast is steep and rises to about 300 meters above sea level. The fish farm started operating in 2005, and today it consists of five breeding fields, three of which have 12 cages, one 8 and one 18 cages. All cages are 22 m in diameter and the farm is located in a position where the sea depth is 50-60 meters. Sea bream and sea bass are grown in the farm. Given the strong currents, the impact of the farm on the environment is extremely small, which is confirmed by the annual analysis of seabed and sea monitoring conducted by the Ruđer Bošković Institute. Fish farming is based on a low stocking density of 120,000 - 130,000 fish individuals per cage. Fish is fed exclusively with food that does not contain haemoglobin, antibiotics or GMO products.
