One of the most significant associations connected with protection and revitalization of maritime heritage in Croatia.
Opis
The Coordination of Associations for the Preservation and Revitalization of the Maritime, Fishing and Shipbuilding heritage of Kvarner and Istria (Traditional Sails of Kvarner and Istria) has been active since 2012 and since 2014 it has been officially registered according to the Associations Act. The Coordination and its members organize maritime festivals in Kvarner and Istria, as well as festivals and regattas of traditional vessels. Members of the Coordination participate in all regattas of traditional sailing boats in Kvarner and Istria. Also, the representatives of the members participate in other events of this kind in the country and abroad. The representatives of the Coordination members were the organizers and participants of the visit of traditional boats from Kvarner and Istria to the Festival of the Sea and Sailors in Brest in 2012, in 2015 to Mobihan Bay Week, and in 2018 to the maritime festival "Escale a Sete". In addition, they participated in several Historical regattas (Regatta Storica) and regattas of traditional sailing boats "Copa dell Presidente" in Venice. The coordination is the holder of the organization "Kvarner Festival of the Sea and Maritime Tradition – FIUMARE", which has been held in Rijeka since 2012. The Coordination members have actively participated in the preparation and implementation of EU projects Mala barka and Mala barka 2, as well as the application of new projects. The project of cataloging traditional vessels has been launched and the Rules for the renovation, construction and equipping of traditional vessels have been drafted. The Coordination members actively participate in the initiative to establish the Museum of the Sea in Rijeka and Kvarner, as well as a number of initiatives with other institutions related to the preservation and revitalization of maritime heritage, and with numerous lectures seek to sensitize the public and institutions. The Coordination cooperates intensively with the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral in Rijeka, the Association of Mediterranean Maritime Museums, competent authorities in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the City of Rijeka, and municipalities and cities in Kvarner and Istria. The Coordination representatives are the initiators and members of the Section for Croatian Maritime Heritage, the Maritime Scientific Council at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU). Apart from the northern Adriatic, the Coordination also cooperates with all significant associations dealing with the preservation and revitalization of maritime heritage in the territory of the Republic of Croatia. In 2017, the Coordination received the recognition of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia "for its contribution to the promotion of maritime culture", and the Kvarner Tourist Board for the preservation and promotion of maritime heritage in Kvarner, and the organization of the FIUMARE festival.
