So-called "big saw" ("segòne" in Italian traditional terminology), a "free-blade" saw used by two carpenters.
It consists of a long iron blade which ends, at both ends, with two tubular elements fixed to the blade by means of rivets; vertical wooden handles are inserted inside the tubular elements. It was used by two men who, often, to gain strength, worked kneeling, with one leg pointed forward. Dimensions: blade length 174 cm, height of the blade at the point of maximum extension 14 cm; length of the wooden handles cm 30, diameter cm 3. Date: first half of the 20th century.
