Opis
After receiving the doge's approval in 1766, the people of Punat decided to build a parish church. Through the joint work of the citizens and the financial support of the local fraternities, the church was quickly built. The example of the construction of this church can be traced to the demographic growth in Punat and its surroundings. The first adaptation of the church began as early as 1840, when it was significantly expanded, and a bell tower was added. The number of inhabitants continued to grow in the 20th century, so in the 1930s the church was expanded again. The authorities at the time tried to ensure that the size of the church followed the growth of the population and that it was never too crowded.
