The Rijeka breakwater is located in the southern part of the Rijeka port basin. It stretches in thedirection east – west and protects the waters of the Rijeka basin from the waves from the south. The inside of the breakwater is built of stone blocks. The outside is a seawall madeas a stone embankment. The length of the breakwater is 1707 m. The depths along the coastal edge of the breakwater range between 5.8 and 6.7 m. At the root of the breakwater there is the building of the Maritime Passenger Terminal. Along the north side of the breakwater root there is a floating ramp used to reload vehicles on the coastal shipping line. The shore of the breakwater root is used for the acceptance of very fast vessels on high-speed lines. The eastern part of the breakwater is intended for the mooring of passenger ships, while the western part is intended for the mooring of fishing and tourist vessels. There are two cranes (50 kN) on the Rijeka breakwater that are not in operation but serve as an attraction.
