Fishermen's Cooperative Brseč was founded in Brseč in 1956. In all time periods, 38 fishermen from Brseč and Brseč surroundings worked in the Fishermen's Cooperative. The cooperative had several fishing boats and light boats, intended for catching small oily fish, primarily sprat, mackerel, chub mackerel, sardines and anchovies. Among the vessels at its disposal the following should be noted: fishing boats "Inćun" with registration marks RK 28 and "Mornarica" with registration marks RK 43, which were purchased in 1956, and fishing boats "Labud" (purchased in 1958) and "Pastrica" (purchased 1959). In 1961, the cooperative merged with the Ika Fish Cannery, so in 1962 the fishing boat "Bjelac" was procured. The founders of the Fishermen's Cooperative as fishermen were: Srećko Županićev (Srećko Galović), Velo Pikićev (Avelin Velčić), Ernešto Ulijanin (Ernest Škalamera), Pere Belančićev (Petar Dujmović), Nino Kapitanov (Ivan Škalamera), Pepić Cresanov (Josip Žitinić) Ivan Katin – Tinjančev (Ivan Vitas), Tonić z Butigi (Uhač Anton) and Miro Pešćinarov (Vitomir Velčić). The ship "Inćun" was procured in 1956. She was obtained from the fishing company "Volosko", and the trawler net was bought in Kantrida. The fishing boat "Inćun" with the registration number RK 28 was a 6 m long leut, powered by a 9 hp "Foyler" engine. Along with the leut, 3 light boats were also obtained. In the autumn of the same year, the fishing boat "Mornarica" (some called it "Marinera") with the registration number RK 43 was obtained from the fishing cooperative "Otavio Ostroman" from Lošinj. This boat was approximately 9.5 m long and was powered by a 6 hp Torpedo engine. Later, a more powerful engine of approximately 30 hp was installed in her. In 1958, the ship "Labud" was taken over from the general agricultural cooperative "Baška" from the island of Krk as a replacement for "Inćun", which was too small. The fishing boat "Labud" was 12.5 m long and 3 m wide. It was powered by a 24 hp "MWM" engine. The fishing boat "Bakarac" was taken over from the fishing cooperative "Bakarac" in 1959. The ship's name was changed to "Pastrica". The ship was 15 m long but had a low-power engine, so a new engine was quickly procured from Šibenik with the help of UNR. "Inćun" and "Labud" were soon sold. Unfortunately, the ship "Pastrica" had a sad fate, namely she burned down in 1962 near the island of Prvić. The cause of the fire was the bursting of the kerosene supply pipe for the lights. Fortunately, all the fishermen were saved. After the merger of the fishing cooperative "Brseč" with the Fish Canning Factory "Ika" in 1961 (at the same time the fishing company "Volosko" also joined the factory), in 1962 a new boat, "Bijelac", was purchased from the fishing company "Krk" from Krk. The length of the ship was 21.5 m, and she was powered by a 180 hp "Ansaldo" engine. On board, Anton (Tone) Uhač (Podinov) was the leader of fishing until 1964, and after that he was the master of the ship until 1971. In that period, Tone Uhač was twice awarded as the "fisherman of the year" for the biggest catch on our Adriatic coast.
