This wooden boat, a traditional pasara (MK 34), is 4.40 m long, 1.65 m wide and has a hull height of 0.73 m. It was constructed in 1989 by a local wooden boat enthusiast Ivo Kosić-Bučul from Vantačići, where it was also located. The boat is owned by Toni Kraljić from Malinska. Prior to its renovation, it was used for personal purposes, but also for setting up buoys in the bathing areas of the municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica. For the last three years, the boat has not been seaworthy. The pasara is recognisable for its round hull shape with flat transom. Its name comes from its appearance, i.e. that of a fish that is locally known as a pasara. This boat is a smaller open pasara without a deck and has certain distinctive features typical of this type of vessel. These are a flat transom and slightly rounded bow with the stem post inclined forward. It is a classic design for this type and size of vessel, with a bench at the bow, two transverse benches, and longitudinal benches that end in a transverse bench at the stern. Between the bow and the front transverse bench, there is a detachable “deck” for working with nets. The structural elements of the boat (keel, stem and sternpost, apron and inner post, floor timbers and frames, longitudinal stringers, caprail and benches) are made of oak from Krk and Slavonian forests, while the planking is made of spruce. This pasara was renovated as part of the Arca Adriatica – Protection, promotion and touristic valorisation of Adriatic maritime heritage project, an Italy-Croatia INTERREG cross-border cooperation programme, in the traditional shipyard of Franko Kraljić in Malinska. The renovated boat is part of the permanent exhibition of the Interpretation Centre in Malinska and is used for sailing demonstrations and participating in traditional boat regattas and festivals throughout the Adriatic.
