This wooden boat, the pasara (MK 78), is 6.60 m long, 2.20 m wide and has a hull height of 0.95 m. It was built in 1936 in Malinska shipyard. Its owner was Božidar Karabajić, a boatman (barkarijol) who used it not only for personal purposes, but also to transport tourists on excursions to nearby destinations such as Porat and Vantačići, or on panoramic boat trips along the cove of Malinska. Today, the Božjan is one of the oldest wooden boats in the municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica. Because of its flat stern above the waterline and the possibility of installing an outboard engine, it was a favourite choice for barkajoli boatmen. This is a larger pasara with a bow deck and longitudinal benches with one transverse bench and a stern bench. It has a transom and a rounded bow with a slightly inclined stem post. The structural elements of the boat (keel, stem and sternpost, apron and inner post, floor timbers and frames, longitudinal stringers, caprail and benches) are made of oak, while the planking is made of spruce. The boat is powered by oar, sail and outboard engine. It has a lugsail and jib, a mast and a bowsprit. The municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica recognised the value of this traditional wooden boat and bought it from the Karabajić family. It was restored by the fifth generation of boatbuilders of the Kraljić/Lolić family in the same shipyard as it had originally been built. The Božjan is part of the permanent exhibition of the Interpretation Centre in Malinska and is used for sailing demonstrations and participating in traditional boat regattas and festivals throughout the Adriatic.
