On the first stretch of the old wall of the North Pier (that is the part of the port that has always been dedicated to fishing activities) have been inserted several commemorative tombstones over the years and tragedies of the sea. They want to commemorate the mournful events because “the sea gives so much but asks as well”. The so-called “blue dead” (morti azzurre) find dignity and memory also within the toponymy of the entire port basin. The northern pier was dedicated to the shipwreck of the Atlantic fishing boat called “Rodi” with municipal council decision n. 92 on February 1994, 16. Thanks to the same administrative action they are dedicated docks and harbor arms to other tragedies of the sea.
