This wooden boat, a pasara (MK 73), is 4.10 m long, 1.61 m wide and has a hull height of 0.68 m. It was built by Frane Kraljić in the Malinska shipyard in 1985. Its owner is Klaudija Koči. Prior to its reconstruction, the boat was in a seaworthy condition and moored in Malinska harbour. It was used for personal purposes, mainly for fishing. The traditional wooden boat, the pasara, met all the needs of the inhabitants of the coast, including fishing, transporting people and cargo, and participating at regattas. This boat is a smaller open pasara without a deck and has certain distinctive features typical of this type of vessel. These are a flat transom and slightly rounded bow with the stem post inclined forward. It is a classic design for this type and size of vessel, with a bench at the bow, two transverse benches, and longitudinal benches that end in a transverse bench at the stern. Between the bow and the front transverse bench, there is a detachable “deck” for working with nets. The structural elements of the boat (keel, stem and sternpost, apron and inner post, floor timbers and frames, longitudinal stringers, caprail and benches) are made of oak, while the planking is made of spruce. This pasara was renovated as part of the Arca Adriatica – Protection, promotion and touristic valorisation of Adriatic maritime heritage project, an Italy-Croatia INTERREG cross-border cooperation programme, in the traditional shipyard of Franko Kraljić in Malinska. The renovated boat is part of the permanent exhibition of the Interpretation Centre in Malinska and is used for sailing demonstrations and participating in traditional boat regattas and festivals throughout the Adriatic.
