The Geneviève Monument was inaugurated on October 10, 2020 and it is located close to the garden called “Nuttate de Lune” next to the mouth of Albula river.
The monument consists of the bow of the former fishing boat “Geneviève”: an ocean fishing vessel that was the last remaining hull of a fleet of ships. San Benedetto del Tronto welcomed them in its port and then they sailed, between the 60’s and 70’s, to the seas around the world in search of new fishing grounds. The monument is a tribute to the epic ocean fishing of San Benedetto del Tronto.
The monument can also be used by people with sensory disabilities thanks to multimedia media.
The garden “Nuttate de Lune” takes its name from the song written by Ernesto Spina and set to music by Attilio Bruni. The song was sung on August 9, 1931 during a celebration called “Prima Festa della Canzone” in the vernacular of San Benedetto del Tronto.
