It is a bronze monument commissioned in May 1986 by “Circolo dei Sambenedettesi”. It is about 8 meters high and it is considered the symbol of the seafarers’ industriousness of San Benedetto del Tronto. It is dedicated to those people striving for the best, able to face and overcome with dignity every obstacle. The seagull Jonathan Livingston, protagonist of the homonymous novel by Richard Bach, becomes a model to propose. It is a symbol that represents the yearning for freedom in artistic forms.
