The Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka preserves a painting of the Barque Conte Geza Szapary, by Basil Ivanković from 1892, oil on canvas, PPMHP 100053, 72 x 43 cm. The inscription on the painting says bark Aus-Ung Conte Geza Szapary, Comto dal Capno S. Vranich. The painting is dominated by the sailing ship barque, with all the spar sails on all the masts and the jibs on the bowsprit unfurled, and the figurehead can be seen. There are boats andhatches in the middle of the deck of the sailing ship. At the port quarter of the Conte Geza Szapary sailing ship there is another sailing barque and to her starboard side there is a smaller sailing ship sailing in the opposite direction. The sea is extremely undulating. The sailing ship Conte Geza Szapary was built in 1874 in Rijeka, for the shipowner Kazimir Kozulić. She had 593 registered tons, and the first masters – according to the data from the publication Annuario marittimo for 1889 – were Bela Kozulić and Frane Šodić.
