The “Augusto Capriotti” Fish Museum
This museum is one of the museum complex (“Museo del Mare”). It was officially born on March 25, 1956 thanks to some members of a association called “Pescasportiva”, then it was dedicated to “Giovanni Poloni”. This museum wanted to raise awareness of all the marine fauna. The museum’s collection was formed thanks to donations from shipowners and fishermen as well. They donated marine species from seas and oceans around the world. The first and valuable scientific consultant was the scientist from San Benedetto del Tronto, Augusto Capriotti (1920-1970), to whom the Museum is named today. In 2019, the new exhibition itinerary, structured in thematic areas, was designed and realised. There are locations such as the Fishing Market (“Il Mercato del Pesce”) and the Multimedia Room called IMMERS.E.A.
