The Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka keeps a coloured photograph of the Nava Francesco Giuseppe I, photo: Adelaide, Sydney, Australia, around 1903, PPMHP 109190, 17 x 17 cm. The sailing ship Francesco Giuseppe I, with unfurled sails, sailing on the wavy sea. The ship has four masts. The bowsprit has three jibs, connected by a foremast. The three large masts are interconnected by staysails. The masts have six spars each and only the aftermast has five spars and a lower gaffsail. Austro-Hungarian and several smaller flags are flying on the after mast. The frame of the photograph contains the inscription Francesco Giuseppe I. The sailing ship was built in 1882 in Glasgow under the name Falls of Afton, and she had 1924 registered tons. She belonged to the shipowner Franjo Lev from Veli Lošinj until 1907. On a voyage around the world (1902-1903), Lieutenant Branko Širola was on the sailing ship, under the master Ivan Rodinis.
