The gimlets are carpentry tools, composed of an iron body / rod with a conical helix tip, preceded by a serpentine hollow, with a wooden handle by means of which the rotation motion is impressed. The gimlets, of various sizes and measures, are used to manually make holes in the timber (they are therefore augers, hand drills) or to open the way to a screw or a pin. Dimensions: length of the metal rod from the wooden handle to the screw tip: 10 cm (smallest specimen) to 102 cm (largest specimen). First half of the 20th century.
