Cres floating dock (today Dock-9) was built in Pula in 1913 under the name Dock-F, which meant dock for destroyers (German Fahrzeuge), and was used mainly for repairs of submarines and smaller warships. In 1915, the famous French submarine "Curie" was repaired on this dock, which before that, in 1914, tried to break into the main Austro-Hungarian naval base in Pula when it was seized. After the First World War the dock was used by the Italian Navy and since 1945 it was in Tivat as part of the Yugoslav Navy. It was towed to Mali Lošinj by the ship "Rovenska" in 1983 under the command of Maurice Pinezić from Cres. After the necessary repairs and partial reconstruction, the dock was delivered to Cres. It was exploited there since its first docking of the sailing ferry "Kalmar" on 25 November 1984, until 23 June 2020 and its last docking when the training ship of the Maritime School Bakar "Vila Velebita II" was docked.

Cres floating dock belongs to a type of symmetrical docks consisting of pontoons with bases (operative deck of the dock) and side vertical towers, water flooding and pumping systems and dock equipment. The dock pontoon is longitudinally and transversely divided by partitions that create a system of tanks. The towers, just like the central pontoon, are divided by longitudinal and transverse bulkheads, forming a system of tanks. The dock is divided into 8 pontoon tanks and 8 tank towers with a total capacity of 4,686 tons. The side towers of this dock are trapezoidal in shape. Dock towers provide stability of the dock when immersing and surfacing. On the pontoon or operative deck, there are central and side supports on which the ship rests when docking. The side blocks are adjustable. At the top of the towers there is a control bridge from which all floating dock systems are controlled. The total length of the dock is 107 m, the maximum width is 16.52 m, and the height from the bottom to the top of the towers is 9.36 m. The width of the daylight size of the opening between the towers at the bottom is 10.73 m and at the top 12.58 m. Maximum dimensions of the ship which can be docked are 100 m length and 11 m width, while the maximum displacement of the ship can be 1000 t (the carrying capacity of the dock is 1,000 tons).
