The Chair of the Čakavian Parliament of the Municipality of Mošćenička Draga was established in 2003 with the aim of researching, promoting and preserving cultural heritage in the area of the Municipality of Mošćenička Draga and the wider surroundings. In addition to the very substantial activities of the Chair in the field of the preservation of Chakavian language and cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) in general, it is necessary to emphasize the activities of the Chair in the field of the preservation and revitalization of maritime and shipbuilding heritage. A working group for the study of maritime and fisheries was established within the Chair in 2004 and in 2012 the Section for Traditional Boats "Draga Boats". The Chair is the initiator of the Festival and regatta of traditional sailing boats in Mošćenička Draga in 2009, the initiator of the establishment of the Ecomuseum Mošćenička Draga and a participant in the realization of the Interpretation Center for Fisheries and Maritime Heritage House of the Sea. Since 2004, the working group has been organizing festivals in honour of all fishermen and sailors in the municipality of Mošćenička Draga, a traditional event "Za Andrejnu" where the results of the research are presented. The activities of the Section for Traditional Boats "Draga Boats" in addition to co-organizing the Festival and regatta in Mošćenička Draga include the participation in many festivals and regattas of traditional sailing boats in the country and abroad, renovation and traditional equipment of boats and involvement of members of the Section in individual projects of the working group for researching maritime affairs and fisheries, especially in the development of the component of the Ecomuseum related to maritime affairs and fisheries (sailing on traditional boats, organization of traditional skills workshops, etc.). In addition, the working group for the study of maritime affairs and fisheries is continuously engaged in research and preparations for the publication of research results in the Mošćenice Almanac and other publications, as well as the preparation of books related to maritime issues. Research includes studies in the field of maritime affairs and fisheries, collection of dialectal terms, collection of documentation and interviews and collection and documentation of bibliographic sources for the compilation of heritage wealth.
