Grobnica pomoračke i brodovlasničke obitelji Bakarčić Tomb of sailor and shipowner family Bakarčić
Opis
The Vio-Bakarčić mausoleum is located in field D, section 3, number 3/4 (D-3-3/4). The mausoleum is of monumental value and 1st category protection regime. The author of the whole is the Rijeka sculptor Giuseppe Dorigo, 1889, and the author of the central sculpture of the Vestal priestess Ebe is the sculptor Donato Bracaglia from Milan. The high neo-Gothic mausoleum is surrounded by lush vegetation. The building consists of a square half-buried crypt accessed by stairs. Above it there is an upper plateau with a few steps leading to a central, representative part – a canopy supported by four black marble pillars. There is a large bronze crucifix on the wall with a classic stone altar in front of it with a white female figure of a priestess with her head covered. She is holding a jug for tallow candle in her right hand. The life-size white sculpture, in front of a dark warm-coloured niche, with embossed borders of gray corner edges, looks very decorative and picturesque. The canopy is made of pink marble, decorated with corner pillars and profiled cornices, ending with a very richly decorated architrave. The mausoleum is surrounded by a low metal fence held by metal pillars.
