This type of drogue (called "spiera" in Italian) was made on a traditional level with a large stone and an iron harness, therefore economically, but being very effective. It represents a device used to slow down the speed of boats hit by heavy seas from aft, especially when they approached land or at the entrance to the harbor. It was towed from the stern with a long line and dragged close to the seabed. In this way it was avoided that the boat, pushed by the wind and the waves, took the "rush" and ended up being hit by the breaking waves, then to be capsized. This type of drogue was used on low-slope sandy bottoms, where there are no dangers of grounding, and for this reason it was widely used along the coasts of the western Adriatic (mostly in the upper Adriatic). Dimensions: 38 x 27 x 28 cm. Dating: 19th - first half of the 20th century.
