The port of Mali Lošinj is located in the bay of the same name in the geographical position φ = 44 ° 32.2 'N; λ = 14 ° 28.2' E. The port is well protected from all winds and waves and is considered one of the best shelters in the northern Adriatic. The port covers the entire Malološinj Bay and consists of two basins: the Velopin basin and the Poljana-Runjica basin. The Mali Lošinj town port is located 1.7 M southeast of the entrance to the bay and 0.7 M before the end of the bay on the north side there is the Privlaka channel with a 2-m high drawbridge. The channel is 70 m long and 8 m wide and it can be used by vessels up to 2 m draft. In the area of Poljana there are moorings for smaller vessels and a fuel pump. Further towards the end of the bay on the north side there is a marina, a shipyard with a floating dock anchored in front and behind the shipyard there is the passenger-ferry shore with the quay Vela Riva. The passenger-ferry wharf is approximately 265 m long, 145 m of which is in the shipyard area with depths of 6 m in the shipyard area up to 12 m at the root of the ferry port. The ferry shore is 114 m long with a ramp approximately 25 m wide and depths from 8 to 12 m. In the central part of the port there is the 91-m long quay Vela Riva which also serves for the accommodation of passenger ships with depths of 2.5 to 5 m. The Quay of Lošinj Captains is located in the extreme southeastern part of the port of Mali Lošinj. The length of the first part of the coast is 180 m and the depths along the coast are approximately 3 m, the height from the medium sea level is approximately 1.05 m, and the width of the wharf is approximately 3.5 m. At the very end of the bay, there is the City Port with three floating pontoons used for mooring yachts in the summer months. The Port of Mali Lošinj is a port of county importance managed by the County Port Authority of Mali Lošinj, and the port also has a branch office of the Rijeka Port Authority. The port of Mali Lošinj is used by passenger liners, tourist boats, yachts and ships accepted by the Lošinj Shipyard, as well as their auxiliary ships (tugs, mooring boats and others), then fishing boats, mostly purse seiners, and boats for sports and leisure.
Valorizacija
Grad Mali Lošinj smješten je na jugoistočnom kraju prostranog i dobro zaštićenog zaljeva. Grad nastaje kao i obližnje naselje Veli Lošinj krajem 13. i početkom 14. stoljeća. U početku su bili podvrgnuti gradu Osoru. Krajem srednjeg i početkom novog vijeka slabi moć Osora i Mali Lošinj se krajem 17., a poglavito u 18. stoljeću počinje sve više razvijati zahvaljujući pomorstvu. Nakon pada Venecije 1797., i pod upravom Austrije čitavo 19. stoljeće sve više prosperira kao brodograditeljski, pomorski, a krajem 19. i početkom 20. stoljeća i turistički centar na Kvarneru.
